Newton Abbot Fishing Association has the rights to over twelve waters in the Newton Abbot area which offer some of the best coarse fishing in Devon. With over 500 members, we welcome new although you must live within a 20 mile radius of Newton Abbot to apply for Full Membership which must be proposed and seconded by two full members, one of whom must be a member of the committee.
Day tickets are available for many of our waters offering some great fishing for the visiting angler.
Rackerhayes Complex - consists of 6 waters, Island Pond: is a lake of about 5 acres and open to all ticket holders. Stocked with mixed coarse fish: Tench over 10lb. Good sized Roach, Rudd, Pike, Bream and Eels. First Pond: is about 2 acres and open to all. Stocked with a good head of Carp to 20lb, Tench, Roach, Bream and a large number of Jack Pike. Wheel Pond: Open to all but juniors having priority. With 20+ pegs to choose from and stocked with Carp to 14lb, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Golden Orfe, Tench and occasional small Pike.
Linhay Pond: is open to all and is approx 3 acres in size. Well stocked with a mixture especially Bream & Tench which can go up to 9lbs +. Boilies are not allowed on this pond. Dores Pond: The largest of Newton Abbot’s waters at about 9 acres. Floating platforms on this water available for members over 18 only. Stocked with Bream up to 9lb with a good head of silver fish and perch. Also stocked with a very large head of carp with up to 30lb specimens! The Club record Tench came from here at 11lb 14 ozs. Weedy Pond (Open to all) is about 1 acre in size and is stocked with variety of coarse fish. The Carp go to low doubles in size.
Fishing at Kingsteignton is also available to the club. Key Transport: Popular match water (full members only). Eddison Pond: small water.Sawmills: about 3 acres coloured by run off from local clay works but don't be put off! Carp to low 20’s are regularly caught here. Bradley Pond – (Full Members Only water) Former clay pit of about 4 acres, outside Bovey Tracey. A popular match and carp venue holds roach to 2lbs, perch to 5lbs, tench, skimmers, carp to 28lbs and large trout.
West Golds Newton Abbot. (Open to all) A tidal water that is incorporated in the flood defence system of the local area. Extreme care should be taken here, flash tidal flooding is common. The water holds dace, roach, skimmers, mullet and carp and is a quiet venue where all methods work.
Wapperwell - Fishing from dawn until dusk only - junior members to be accompanied by adult over 21 years old. It is about an acre in size and is stocked with silver fish, skimmer bream, tench, crucians and carp. Ideal for the pleasure angler.
Newton Abbot also has stretches on Rivers Brue, Parrot and Ilse, with other stretches of drain in the Langport area which are open to all.
