Chenson Farm Cottage is situated some 20 miles from Barnstaple and 25 miles from Exeter via the A377 and offers easy access to Dartmoor and the Devon and North Cornish coastline.
Fishing at Chenson consists of three miles of single and double bank superb salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing in the River Taw below Yeo Junction plus the lowest River Yeo, which has very good brown trout and can have excellent sea trout fishing in season. It is divided into three beats (the bailiff will let the visitors know which beats are theirs for the day). With private fishing, at £150 pw if required, for 2 rods on Beat 2 and 3 of the Chenson Fishery (depending on season rods taken).
Cottage rates £350 pw March and April, £450pw May, June and September and £550pw in July and August. Also available out of season from £250pw. Wood and electricity are included, as are linen and towels.
You can watch the river from your bed – and hear the fish jump on warm summer evenings.
The cottage is 18th century stone built, semi-detached with delightful gardens including an arbour under the honeysuckle and a patio for the sunny summer days. There is a sun lounge/ dining room, a quiet room, living room with wonderful woodburner, kitchen with electric hob, fridge and freezer, and two double bedrooms upstairs. Sleeping arrangements consist of a double bed in the master bedroom, bunks in the other bedroom upstairs and, if required, there is a pull out sofa. Linen, wood, electricity and towels are included.
Salmon are here before opening day (March 1st) and runs continue right through until (and well after!!!) closing day on September 30th. Fishing is by fly only except during March and April when spinning is allowed, although most anglers’ fish fly throughout the year. Brown trout are wild and fishing is catch and release with barbless hooks only, please.
