Welcome... To the Get Hooked web site.  Our Westcountry Fishing site has been running for 20 years and has been developed on the success of the paperback publication The Get Hooked Guide to Angling in South West England, now in its’ 18th edition, published in partnership with the Environment Agency and Angling Trust. The 18th edition published in November 2013. In 2009 The Environment Agency sent over 50,000 copies of the paper guide free to every household in their South West area that bought a licence in the Post Office or by Direct Debit in 2008.

Rod fishing byelaws are statutory rules put in place by the Environment Agency. They protect migratory and freshwater fish stocks from damaging fishing practices.

Rod fishing byelaws set out when, where and how you can fish and what fish you can take

Some fishing rules are local, covering specific waters; others apply to the whole of South West Region; and some national rules cover the whole of England and Wales.

Angling clubs and private fisheries often have their own rules which you must respect.
