Brown Trout fishing at Roadford can be exceptional and is available from the bank or by boat, with permits online Trout in the 2-3 lb range are very possible, exploring the depths with a team of dark wet flies in the early season. Roadford offers Perch fishing in the summer months, from boat only, and fish up to 4lbs have been caught using small rubber lures or jigs off the bottom. Other stillwater trout fisheries are also nearby. For grown-on Brown Trout and true scenic wilderness, a session on Fernworthy Reservoir (near Chagford) is hard to beat, but it can be difficult early in the early months of the season. Kennick (near Christow) is also a beautiful venue. Smaller, private Rainbow fisheries can be found nearby at Tavistock Trout Fishery and Tinhay Quarry Lake at Lifton (contact The Arundell). South West Salmon fishing can rival any in the UK. Day & week permits can be purchased from The Arundell, The Endsleigh Fishing Club, Upper Teign Fishing Club, and The Half Moon Inn at Sheepwash. Boat charters are available from Ilfracombe (Bluefin Carters) and Appledore (Lundy Charters or Cheeky Monkey) on the North coast, with a multitude of species possible from reefs and wrecks (depending on the time of year) along the truly spectacular coastline.
